Keir Starmer Resigns as UK Prime Minister Amid Growing Party Pressure

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has officially announced his resignation as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Labour Party during an address to the nation outside 10 Downing Street.

The decision follows a period of declining approval ratings and mounting internal pressure within the Labour Party. In his statement, Keir Starmer indicated that he had spoken with King Charles III to tender his resignation and outline a transition timeline.

The departure clears the path for the former Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, to potentially mount a leadership bid and succeed him as Prime Minister. Andy Burnham recently won a landslide victory in the Makerfield by-election on June 18, returning to Westminster as a Member of Parliament and positioning himself as a leading candidate to take over the top job in British politics.

During his address, Keir Starmer expressed gratitude to the public and pledged his full support to the incoming leadership to ensure political and economic stability for the nation.
