Conor McGregor Pushes Presidential Bid With Video Outside Government Buildings

Conor McGregor Pushes Presidential Bid

Conor McGregor has escalated his campaign for the Irish presidency, posting a video outside Government Buildings on Thursday urging citizens to pressure local councillors to nominate him.

In the two-minute clip, the former MMA star attacked the government over homelessness, migration, and public safety, pledging to act as a “solution-driven” head of state. The video closed with the message: Vote McGregor for President.

Ireland’s presidential election is set for October 24. Candidates need support from 20 Oireachtas members or four local councils to make the ballot. McGregor insists he has backing but has not named any TDs, Senators, or councils.

His campaign faces major hurdles. A Sky News survey showed no lawmakers supporting him, while polls suggest only 7% of voters would consider backing him. His rhetoric on migration has drawn sharp criticism, and he continues to face legal fallout from a recent civil ruling against him.

Despite the obstacles, McGregor has vowed to continue, framing himself as a populist alternative to establishment figures such as Mairead McGuinness and Catherine Connolly.
