Feni Government College Chhatra Dal President, Nomanul Haque Noman, has been expelled from his organizational post following the leak of a phone conversation in which he allegedly demanded extortion money. The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 24, through a notification signed by the central Chhatra Dal’s office secretary Md. Jahangir Alam.
The notification stated that based on clear allegations of organizational indiscipline, Nomanul Haque Noman was removed from his position as president of Feni Government College Chhatra Dal under the Feni district branch. Senior Vice President Mahmudul Hasan Bhuiya has been appointed as acting president. The decision was approved by Central Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, according to the notification.
Feni District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Morshed Alam Milon confirmed that the district branch has been informed, and Mahmudul Hasan Bhuiya is now acting president.
The controversy follows a viral audio clip, lasting approximately 4 minutes and 5 seconds, in which Nomanul Haque Noman reportedly demanded 16,000 Taka from Iftikhar Tahad Iftu, Joint General Secretary of Rampur Nasir Memorial College Chhatra Dal, for transporting soil over seven days in Panchgachhia Union, Sadar Upazila, Feni.
In the recording, Noman is heard saying that the demand is based on senior leaders’ decisions and hints at obstructing vehicle movement if the money is not paid. Iftu responds that paying the money as a party member would be embarrassing.
At one point, Noman justifies the demand by stating that the money is for tea and snacks for the juniors, suggesting the payment after 10 PM for the soil transport. When Iftu questions whether this constitutes extortion, Noman replies:
“Chaan, if you consider this extortion, there is nothing to do.”
The leaked audio has triggered widespread discussion and criticism throughout the district.
