Tree Branch Falls in Kalo Boishakhi Storm in Chuadanga, Husband Dies, Wife Injured

A 40‑year‑old man died and his wife was injured when a tree branch snapped and fell during a Kalo Boishakhi storm in the Mohana village area of Alamdanga upazila on Thursday afternoon, local police and witnesses said.

The deceased has been identified as Md. Shafiqul Islam (40), a resident of Mohana village. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a sudden Kalo Boishakhi thunderstorm with strong winds hit the area. During the storm, a large tree branch broke off and fell onto Shafiqul and his wife, Khushi Begum (38).

Local sources said that Shafiqul died instantly from the impact of the heavy branch. His wife, Khushi, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) of Alamdanga Police Station, Khalid Hasan, confirmed the incident and said that the body of Shafiqul Islam was sent to the hospital morgue for post‑mortem examination. Khushi Begum is currently receiving medical care, and her condition is being monitored.

Witnesses described how the storm’s sudden gusts of wind brought down several tree branches in the locality, causing panic among residents. Police and local volunteers helped move the injured to the hospital immediately after the accident.

The community expressed grief and shock over the tragic death, emphasizing that the Kalo Boishakhi storm struck without much warning, leaving little time for anyone to seek shelter.
