Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, the current Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, is set to be appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, according to sources at the Education Ministry.
A source at the Ministry of Education said on Monday that the government has finalised Prof Dr Obaidul Islam’s name for the top post at Dhaka University.
An official gazette notification is expected to be issued soon confirming the appointment.
Currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, Prof Islam has previously held various teaching and administrative positions at different universities, building a long academic career.
Once officially appointed, Prof. Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will take charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, one of the country’s most prestigious public universities.
