Sadiq Agro Chairman Imran Hossain Granted High Court Bail in Money Laundering Case

The High Court has granted bail to Imran Hossain, chairman of Sadiq Agro, in a case filed over allegations of money laundering.

The order was issued on Thursday (April 23) by a High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher, after making the rule on his bail absolute.

During the hearing, Imran was represented by Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Barrister Mahfuzur Rahman Milon, while Assistant Attorney General Md. Al Amin appeared for the state.

Earlier, on March 3, 2025, Imran Hossain was arrested in the capital by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). According to the CID, he was detained in connection with a Tk 133 crore money laundering case. However, the charge sheet later mentioned Tk 1.33 crore as the laundered amount.

Imran came into the spotlight during Eid-ul-Adha 2024, when a “high-breed” goat from Sadiq Agro, initially priced at Tk 1.5 million, went viral on social media after being purchased by Mushfiqur Rahman, also known as Ifat, son of a former NBR official. The incident brought widespread attention to Sadiq Agro.

The company had already been discussed for selling cattle at unusually high prices. It also faced controversy after importing 18 banned Brahma breed cattle, which were seized by customs at the airport. Later, the Department of Livestock controversially returned those cattle to Sadiq Agro.
