CTTC Detains Minor Suspect Over Alleged Links to Neo-JMB

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has taken a minor into custody for his alleged involvement with the banned militant organization Neo-JMB.

According to CTTC sources, an operational team conducted a raid in the Habiganj Sadar area on Thursday (April 2) at approximately 2:30 PM based on a tip-off. The minor was reportedly in contact with Ahsan Zahir Khan, Daniel Islam Hasan, and Russell (also known as Palash or Abu Basher Al Faruqi), who are named accused in an Anti-Terrorism Act case filed at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Investigators revealed that the detained minor was highly active online, sharing extremist content in support of the Islamic State (IS) and attempting to recruit new members.

“The suspect was involved in sharing PDF manuals for bomb-making and was allegedly inciting attacks on Shia mosques, police checkpoints, and ISKCON temples through close associates,” a CTTC official stated.

Following legal protocols regarding minors in conflict with the law, the individual has been produced before the court for further proceedings.
