The Directorate General of Health Services has cancelled all types of leave for doctors, officials, employees, and health workers working in government health institutions across the country due to the rising measles outbreak.
According to an official order issued on Thursday (April 2) by the administration wing, the decision was taken to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services and to strengthen the ongoing measles vaccination campaign amid the emergency situation.
The order states that earned leave and casual leave of all personnel under the Directorate General of Health Services and its affiliated institutions will remain suspended until further notice.
In the directive signed by Dr. Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, Director (Administration), it was mentioned that the decision was issued with due approval from the appropriate authority and will be effective immediately.
Officials concerned said that, with the rise in measles infections, the government has already taken initiatives to intensify emergency vaccination efforts. They emphasized that ensuring the presence of healthcare workers is now crucial to maintaining regular medical services in hospitals alongside controlling the outbreak.
The directive has been circulated to relevant ministries and health officials at divisional and district levels, and instructions have also been given to publish it on the official website of the Directorate General of Health Services.
