Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman announced on Sunday that the Bangladesh Army will return to its barracks once the newly elected government assumes office.
Addressing members of all ranks at the CAS Darbar on Sunday morning, the Army Chief stated that while the main force will withdraw, a portion of the army will remain deployed temporarily to assist in maintaining law and order until the police regain full control of the situation.

Referring to the military’s role in stabilizing the country’s volatile political environment, he affirmed, “The country and its people will remember this service of the army.”
In his speech, the Army Chief also quoted a verse from the Holy Quran, saying: “Indeed, Allah rewards those who are patient.”
