Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has officially congratulated Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, for winning the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections with what it described as a “large majority.”
In a statement released today (10 September) on its verified Facebook page, the party hailed the results as “a new history in Bangladesh,” adding: “Alhamdulillah! This is the first time in the history of Bangladesh.”
Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan further alleged that the other contesting panels in the election had the united support of what it called “pro-India forces.” The statement framed Shibir’s win as a turning point, claiming it would not only strengthen the struggle for students’ and youths’ rights but also play a role in freeing Bangladesh from what it termed “India’s conspiracies.”

The party concluded by expressing hope that the victory would serve as a milestone for the “development and progress” of Bangladesh.
This congratulatory message from Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan marks a rare direct intervention by the party in Bangladesh’s student politics, sparking fresh debate over external commentary on domestic affairs.
