Following the people’s uprising on August 5, 2024, which led to the fall of the Awami League government, an interim government was formed on August 8, 2024, led by Professor Muhammad Yunus. One and a half years later, on Thursday, the 13th National Parliament election and the July National Charter referendum were held.
The interim government’s tenure will formally end with the oath-taking of the new government. The swearing-in of the newly elected Members of Parliament and the new cabinet will take place next Tuesday at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, marking the official conclusion of the interim government’s responsibilities.
