The government has banned the use of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s image in the promotional materials of all official events, with the directive taking effect immediately.
The instruction was issued on Sunday through a circular from the Cabinet Division, which has been sent to all secretaries and relevant government offices for immediate implementation.
According to the circular, the use of the Prime Minister’s photograph—whether in 3D or any other format—on banners, festoons, billboards, or other promotional materials for government events is strictly prohibited.
Instead, ministries, divisions, and government agencies have been instructed to place the event’s core theme and message at the center of all publicity materials.
The directive states that promotional materials must clearly present relevant and consistent information while ensuring that the purpose, objectives, and key message of the event are effectively communicated to the public.
The government also instructed that the design of banners, festoons, and billboards should prioritize the subject matter of the event rather than featuring images of public office holders.
Copies of the circular have been sent to the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, all Senior Secretaries and Secretaries, the Chief Information Officer, as well as all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners (DCs), and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) for compliance and implementation.
The directive comes into force immediately and will apply to the promotion of all government programmes and events nationwide.
