The Election Commission of Bangladesh has announced that the results for Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 constituencies in the 13th parliamentary elections will remain suspended until pending court cases are resolved.
On Thursday, the commission issued separate letters regarding the two constituencies. For Chattogram-4, the letter stated that candidate Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury is allowed to participate in the elections as a contender following the February 3 order of the Appellate Division. However, “until the final disposal of CPLA No. 441/2026 filed in the Appellate Division, the declaration of Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury’s election result is legally required to be withheld,” the letter added.
Similarly, for Chattogram-2, the EC letter confirmed that candidate Sarwar Alomgir is eligible to participate in the election under the February 3 order of CPLA No. 440/2026. Yet, the results will remain suspended until the final judgment of the court case.
The Election Commission instructed the relevant returning officers to take all necessary steps in accordance with these decisions.
Additionally, the EC reported a voter turnout of 59.44% across the 297 constituencies where voting took place.
“Until the Appellate Division delivers its final verdict on the pending cases, the results of Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 cannot be officially declared,” the commission stated in its letters.
