BNP Brothers Sweep Tangail-2 and Tangail-5 in 13th Parliamentary Elections

In the 13th national parliamentary elections, two prominent BNP candidates from Tangail have emerged victorious. Former minister and BNP vice chairman Abdus Salam Pintu won Tangail-2 (Gopalpur-Bhuapur) with 198,213 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Jamaat candidate Humayun Kabir Pan, who received 60,871 votes. Voting in the constituency was 64.56% across 139 polling stations, with 5,555 votes invalidated.

In Tangail-5 (Sadar), Pintu’s younger brother, BNP central publicity secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, also claimed victory. Tuku received 131,279 votes, ahead of Jamaat candidate Ahsan Habib Masud (80,823 votes) and independent candidate Farhad Iqbal (69,408 votes). Out of 462,412 registered voters, 288,080 cast their ballots, with 4,401 votes invalidated, resulting in a turnout of 63.25%.

With these wins, the two brothers will be heading to Parliament together, marking a significant triumph for BNP in Tangail.
