Hasnat Abdullah Declared Unofficial Winner in Cumilla-4 (Debidwar)

Hasnat Abdullah, the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance nominee and Chief Organizer (South) of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has been unofficially declared the winner in the Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency in the 13th National Parliament election.

The matter was confirmed at 8:35 p.m. on Thursday (February 12) by Assistant Returning Officer and Debidwar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam.

UNO Rakibul Islam said the Debidwar constituency has a total of 116 polling centres, and Hasnat Abdullah secured victory in all of them.

“We are compiling the results from all centres. Based on the result sheets, Hasnat Abdullah has been unofficially declared elected,” he said.

Hasnat’s main rival in the constituency was Jasim Uddin, nominated by the Gono Odhikar Parishad and backed by the BNP, who contested with the “Truck” symbol. Around 5:00 p.m., Jasim Uddin announced on Facebook Live that he was boycotting the election.

The constituency has 116 polling centres and a total of 410,559 registered voters. Among them, 215,237 are male voters, 195,319 are female voters, and three are third-gender voters.
