The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has applied for registration with the Election Commission, selecting Shapla (Water Lily), the national flower, as its preferred election symbol. The application was submitted Sunday afternoon at the EC office in Agargaon.
NCP leaders including Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari were present. They also listed Pen and Mobile Phone as alternative symbol choices.
Nasiruddin Patwari said the people’s victory on August 5 will be reflected in the next election under the Shapla symbol. He demanded a reformation of the EC, calling the current institution “damaged over the last 15 years” but “still necessary to rebuild and empower.”
NCP was launched on February 28 after the fall of the AL government, emerging from the anti-discrimination student movement. Over 20 new parties submitted registration applications on the final extended deadline.
