The oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for a reserved women’s seat, Mst. Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti, was held on Wednesday at the Parliament Speaker’s office.
Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, MP, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected lawmaker.
The ceremony was conducted by the Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, at the Speaker’s office in the Parliament complex.
According to officials, under Article 148 of the Constitution of Bangladesh, the Third Schedule and Rule 5 of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, the Speaker is authorized to administer the oath to newly elected MPs.
After the oath-taking ceremony, MP Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti signed the oath book at the office of the Secretary of Parliament, following parliamentary tradition.
Senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat, along with the Deputy Speaker and the Chief Whip of the Opposition, were present at the ceremony.
