Additional IGP Md. Ahsan Habib Palash has taken charge as the 12th Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
He assumed charge on Saturday (March 28). He replaces former DG and retired Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman.
On March 16, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs appointing Ahsan Habib, DIG (Supernumerary Additional IGP) of Chittagong Range, as the DG of RAB.
Ahsan Habib Palash joined the BCS 15th batch in 1995 as an assistant superintendent of Police. He received one year of basic training from the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sharda, Rajshahi. During his long service life, he has served with distinction in various important units of the Bangladesh Police.
He served in Rangamati, Shariatpur and Narayanganj districts, including APBN, DMP, CMP, and SMP.
He has also served with distinction in administrative and investigative activities at the PBI Headquarters for a long time. He was promoted to the rank of Range DIG Chittagong. He has served in the UN Peacekeeping Missions in Kosovo, Liberia, Sudan and South Sudan. In recognition of his unique service to the Bangladesh Police, he was awarded the ‘Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service).’
Ahsan Habib Palash holds a BSS (Hons) and an MSc degree from Dhaka University. He has completed various trainings in the USA, UK, Australia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
