A tea seller, Din Mohammad (50), was killed in Khulna’s Rupsa Upazila after being struck on the head with a brick over a small debt of Tk 400, police confirmed. The incident occurred around 4:00 pm on Tuesday at Bhabanipur Bazar in Sreefoltola Union.
Din Mohammad, a resident of Bhabanipur village in Rupsa and the son of the late Kashem Dal, was seriously injured on the spot and fell unconscious after the attack. He was later rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to local sources and police, the dispute arose when Khaiyer Laskar, a local butcher, came to Din Mohammad demanding the outstanding Tk 400. A verbal argument escalated, and Khaiyer Laskar struck Din Mohammad on the head with a brick, causing fatal injuries.
Rupsa Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Abdur Razzak Mir, confirmed the incident and stated that the accused has fled the scene. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him. As of 10:00 pm on Tuesday, no formal case had yet been filed regarding the incident.
