Muhammad Yunus, Assistant Controller of Examinations at Cox’s Bazar International University (CBIU), has been temporarily suspended for allegedly sharing a derogatory and defamatory post about Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on social media.
According to university sources, the decision was made through an official order issued on March 17. The university’s registrar office has also issued a show-cause notice, directing Yunus to submit a written explanation within seven working days on why administrative action should not be taken against him.
The office order stated that recent posts from Yunus’s personal social media accounts, including Facebook, were found to be offensive towards the Home Minister, violating the university’s code of conduct and discipline.
“As a university official, engaging in provocative or objectionable behavior on social media undermines the institution’s reputation,” the order said.
In light of this, the university authority has temporarily suspended him from all official duties pending further action. The notice emphasizes that Yunus must provide a written explanation within seven working days to justify why disciplinary measures should not be imposed.
