Two Killed in Truck Accident at Rajbari Filling Station

Two individuals lost their lives after being crushed by a speeding truck at a filling station in Rajbari Sadar Upazila on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 7:15 PM at the Saptabarna Filling Station, located in the Goalanda Moor area.

The deceased have been identified as Sobahan Patwary (45), son of Idris Patwary from Khankhanapur Brakpara in Rajbari Sadar, and Swapan Mia (22), son of Saral Mia from Nannar village in Dhaka’s Dhamrai Upazila.

According to local sources, the accident took place while the victims were standing near a fuel dispenser. Sobahan Patwary, the owner of a drum truck, had stepped out of his vehicle to refuel. Simultaneously, Swapan Mia, a helper of a Benapole-bound truck from Dhaka, was also standing in line at the same dispenser.

Witnesses reported that while a three-wheeler (Mahendra) was taking fuel, a recklessly driven truck entered the station and rammed the Mahendra from behind. The impact pushed the vehicle forward, crushing Sobahan and Swapan who were standing in front of it.

The victims were critically injured and immediately rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital by locals. However, the attending doctor at the emergency department declared them both dead upon arrival.

Inspector Harun-or-Rashid, In-charge of the Khankhanapur Police Investigation Center, confirmed the incident and stated:

“We have seized the truck involved in the accident, though the driver and helper managed to flee the scene. The bodies are currently at Faridpur Medical College Hospital awaiting autopsy.”

Police further noted that legal proceedings regarding the accident are currently underway.
