Full Festival Allowance for Private MPO Teachers, Says Education Minister

Private MPO teachers in Bangladesh currently receive only 50 per cent of their basic salary as a festival allowance. Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has assured that this allowance will be raised to 100 per cent under the current government.

On Thursday (19 February), speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Education conference room, the minister said he is aware of the issue and that steps are being taken to implement the full festival allowance for private school teachers.

He also addressed questions about government employees receiving 100 per cent festival allowance while private teachers do not, stating: “I am aware of the festival allowance issue for teachers in private institutions. This will be implemented during our government. We are working on it.”

Earlier, the minister mentioned that MPO applications received before the election will be verified, and after discussions with the Prime Minister, the government will make decisions. He emphasized that any irregularities or bribery in the process will be thoroughly investigated.

Additionally, the transfer process for MPO teachers will be initiated as soon as possible, and any errors in the system will be reviewed to ensure smooth implementation.
