Dr. Tasnim Jara, an independent candidate for the Dhaka-9 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, has been allotted the ‘Football’ symbol.
She officially received the symbol from the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner on Saturday (January 10) afternoon.
Speaking to the media after the allotment, Tasnim Jara shared her excitement and the anticipation of her supporters. “For the last few days, while talking to the residents of Khilgaon, Sabujbagh, and Mugda, many have been asking which symbol they should look for on the ballot paper to support me. Today, we finally have a clear answer,” she said.
The physician-turned-politician announced that her official election campaign would begin on Sunday. Highlighting her vision, she stated, “Our campaign will be rooted in the politics of transparency and accountability—the kind of politics we want to see in the future. I request everyone’s prayers and well wishes.”
Confirming the news on social media, Tasnim Jara posted on her verified Facebook page, saying, “Overcoming all obstacles, we are contesting the election with the football symbol!”
Earlier, Tasnim Jara’s nomination had been initially canceled by the returning officer due to technical discrepancies. However, she regained her candidacy after a successful appeal to the Election Commission (EC), which declared her nomination valid on January 10.
Tasnim Jara, who previously served as a senior leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), is now running as an independent candidate, focusing on a grassroots-led campaign.
