Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that no conspiracy will be able to derail the upcoming national election if the people remain focused on exercising their voting rights.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday after inspecting the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation’s (BADC) cold storage, central seed testing laboratory, and vegetable seed processing center, he stated that all necessary preparations have been made for the national election scheduled in February as per the announcement of Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
“The interim government is actively working to recover stolen arms, while law enforcement agencies are also ensuring that illegal weapons do not enter the country. Compared to before, our borders are now far more secure,” Jahangir Alam Chowdhury asserted.
The adviser also remarked on the change in freedom of expression under the current government. “In the past, people could not express their opinions freely. Now, citizens are openly sharing their views on social media platforms like Facebook,” he said.
Addressing the issue of rising vegetable prices, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attributed the hike to heavy rainfall that damaged crops. He assured that the government will intervene by purchasing potatoes directly and fixing prices to ensure fair value for farmers.
