“Push Sheikh Hasina into Bangladesh, Not Illegal Citizens”: Shamsuzzaman Dudu Slams India Over Border Push-Ins

Shamsuzzaman Dudu

BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has alleged that India is illegally pushing thousands of Bengali-speaking Indian nationals into Bangladesh every day through the border. Speaking directly to the Indian government, he said, “Don’t push your own citizens—push Sheikh Hasina back into Bangladesh instead, the one you are unlawfully sheltering and pampering.”

Dudu made the remarks during a citizens’ rally organized by the Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolon in front of the National Press Club on Thursday (26 June).

“We’ve considered India a friendly nation, but for the last 50 years, we have not received friendly treatment,” Dudu stated. “What we got instead was heartbreaking. There’s no water in the Teesta River, and there’s no water-sharing treaty either. Though India has spoken of agreements for decades, it has signed none.”

Highlighting the worsening situation post-Hasina’s downfall, Dudu claimed that India continues to forcefully send Bengali-speaking Indian citizens into Bangladesh. He urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to instead return those Bangladeshis who fled the country after looting public money.

“You are sheltering the one who murdered democracy in Bangladesh, while pushing your citizens onto us. This is unacceptable,” Dudu said.

Calling on the public, the former president of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal said, “The biggest murderer is Sheikh Hasina. She must be brought to justice. And we must unite to resist the injustice India is committing against Bangladesh.”

The rally was chaired by KM Rakibul Islam Ripon, president of the Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolon. Others present included BNP Chairperson’s advisor Habibur Rahman Habib, Labour Party chairman Lion Faruk Rahman, Krishak Dal’s office secretary S.K. Sadi, and general secretary Jewel, among others..
