A Bangladeshi national, Md. Ali Hossain, was killed in firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat district.
The incident occurred early Wednesday (April 8) near border pillar 874/5-S adjacent to Dhabalguri BOP. The victim was a resident of Dhabalguri (Purba Paniartari) village under Sreerampur Union of Patgram upazila, and the son of the late Abdul Gafur.
Confirming the matter, the commanding officer of 61 BGB Teesta Battalion, Lt. Col. Syed Fazle Munim, told the media:
“We have communicated with the BSF. The body of the deceased is currently at a hospital in India. Preparations are underway to bring back the body through a flag meeting at the border.”
The incident comes just days after another shooting along the same border. On Monday (April 6), a Bangladeshi youth, Md. Mizanur Rahman, was injured in BSF firing while reportedly cutting grass.
The latest incident has heightened concerns as border tensions persist in the area.
