FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final and jointly present the trophy to the winning team.
According to a Reuters report, Infantino announced during an interview with Fox News on Tuesday.
“We will be with the President, enjoy the final, and of course present the trophy to the winners together. We are always together,” Infantino said.
The White House later shared the relevant portion of the interview through its official account on X. However, President Trump has not yet issued a formal statement regarding his attendance.
Final Set for New Jersey
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2026, at a stadium in New Jersey.
There had been some uncertainty over whether Trump would attend the tournament’s showpiece event. Although he is known for his interest in sports and frequently attends major sporting occasions, he has not been present at any World Cup matches involving the United States or other participating teams so far.
Previous FIFA Appearance
Trump and Infantino have previously appeared together at a FIFA trophy presentation ceremony in the United States.
During the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, both officials were present on stage when Chelsea FC defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to lift the title.
The planned joint trophy presentation at the 2026 World Cup final is expected to draw significant global attention, given the prominence of both the FIFA president and the U.S. president at football’s biggest event.
