The body of Bangladeshi PhD student Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was murdered in Florida, United States, is being repatriated to Bangladesh.
The Emirates Airlines flight carrying his body departed from Orlando Airport for Dhaka via Dubai at around 8:45 pm local time on Saturday (May 2). The body is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Monday morning (May 4).
Disappearance and Discovery
Limon and another Bangladeshi PhD student, Nahida Sultana Brishti, went missing on April 16 in Florida.
- Limon’s body was recovered on April 24 after 8 days of search
- Brishti’s body was identified later on April 30 following forensic tests
Murder Investigation
Police arrested Limon’s roommate, Hisham Abu Ghareh, in connection with the killings.
Court documents submitted on April 26 at Hillsborough County Court stated:
“Jamil Ahmed Limon was killed with multiple stab wounds from a sharp weapon.”
The suspect has been charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder.

Limon was pursuing a PhD at the University of South Florida, specializing in:

Brishti was a student in Chemical Engineering.
Diplomatic Efforts
Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions in Washington and Miami are coordinating the repatriation process. According to officials, the family has requested quick return of Brishti’s body as well, and preparations for sending her remains are underway.
Upcoming Funeral
Brishti’s funeral prayer (Janazah) is scheduled for Wednesday (May 6) after Dhuhr prayer in the United States, after which her body will also be sent to Bangladesh.
