Two Bangladeshi Students Missing in the US Found Dead; Murder Confirmed

The long wait and growing concern of families have ended in tragedy as two Bangladeshi students missing in the United States have been confirmed dead in separate but linked incidents. The victims have been identified as Nahida Sultana Brishti and Jamil Limon, both of whom were studying in Florida.

Nahida Sultana Brishti was confirmed murdered

Nahida Sultana Brishti’s family confirmed her death after days of uncertainty. Her brother, Jahid Hasan Pranto, shared the heartbreaking news on social media on Saturday (April 25).

He stated that US police informed him about her death. According to investigators, DNA analysis confirmed her identity after a human body part was found in blood at a suspect’s residence.

He said:

“US police called and confirmed her death.”

He also added that the DNA test results matched Nahida’s identity, though authorities have not yet confirmed whether her full remains will be recovered.

Nahida was a former student of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) and was pursuing a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of South Florida.

Jamil Limon’s body also recovered

In a separate but related development, the dismembered body of another Bangladeshi student, Jamil Limon, was recovered in Florida’s Hillsborough County.

Authorities confirmed in a press briefing that parts of his body were found near the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa.

Investigation and suspect arrest

Police have arrested a US citizen identified as Hisham Saleh Abu Garbieh, the roommate of Jamil Limon. Investigators believe evidence from his residence is linked to Nahida’s death as well.

The tragic discovery has caused deep shock among the Bangladeshi community in the US and in Bangladesh. Authorities continue intensive investigations to uncover the motive behind the killings and whether the two cases are directly connected.
