US to Provide Over 21.9 Million Measles-Rubella Vaccines to Bangladesh

The United States will supply more than 21.9 million measles-rubella (MR) vaccines for children in Bangladesh, according to a statement from the US Embassy in Dhaka.

The embassy said the United States is supporting Bangladesh’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through UNICEF to implement an emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign.

Under this initiative, over 21.9 million doses will be provided, aiming to bring around 12 million children under the age of five under protection.

The US Embassy noted that the program is part of the “America First Global Health Strategy” of the Trump administration. Preventing disease outbreaks abroad helps keep both the United States and Bangladesh safe, while also strengthening global health systems and protecting populations from infectious diseases.

The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in containing measles and rubella outbreaks and improving child health across the country.
