PM Tarique Rahman Meets Veteran PMO Employees at Tejgaon Office

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday spoke with several long-serving employees of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) at the Tejgaon office in Dhaka.

According to Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon, the Prime Minister called in a number of staff members who had served during the tenure of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia nearly 19 years ago. He greeted them by name, spoke with them, and inquired about their families.

The press secretary described the interaction as a “memorable moment,” noting that some of the employees who were young during Khaleda Zia’s tenure are now nearing retirement age, yet the Prime Minister recognized them and addressed them personally.

Upon arrival at 10:10 AM, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Principal Secretary A B M Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon. Before entering the main building, he planted a tree in the garden area of the office compound.

As he proceeded inside, officers and staff stood in a line to greet him. During this time, he reportedly recognized one employee from a distance and called him by name. The employee approached the Prime Minister, and they exchanged greetings. The Prime Minister also spoke with several other staff members individually.

Following the interactions, the Prime Minister entered the Red Block, where his official chamber is located. There, he unveiled a commemorative postage stamp marking Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day, in line with the day’s scheduled program. He later attended a cabinet meeting.

Tarique Rahman was sworn in as Prime Minister on 17 February. He had been conducting office activities at the Secretariat for the past two days, and Saturday marked his first day working from the Tejgaon office.
