The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) parliamentary party has unanimously elected Tarique Rahman as the leader of the House and the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
The decision was finalized during a parliamentary party meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (National Parliament Building) on Tuesday morning, shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Members of Parliament.
New Cabinet Announced
Following the election, the composition of the new BNP government’s cabinet was announced. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary-General of the party, will join the cabinet.

Strict Austerity Measures
In a significant move towards austerity and transparency, the parliamentary party meeting resolved that BNP lawmakers will adhere to strict guidelines. It was decided that no MP will take a duty-free car or accept any government plot.
