Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman cast his vote for the 13th National Parliamentary Election this morning, accompanied by his family members.
Tarique Rahman voted at the Gulshan Model High School and College center in the Dhaka-17 constituency.
He was joined by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman. Also voting at the same center were Syeda Shamila Rahman Shithi, wife of the late Arafat Rahman Koko, along with their two daughters, Zafia Rahman and Jashia Rahman.
Speaking to journalists after casting his ballot, the BNP Chairman noted that the party has not yet received comprehensive reports from across the country. However, he mentioned receiving disturbing reports of isolated incidents from some areas last night.
“We have not received reports from all over the country yet. However, I received some unexpected news from a few places last night, which is not desirable,” Tarique Rahman said.
Despite these reports, he expressed confidence in the law enforcement agencies’ efforts to maintain order. “We firmly believe that the law enforcement agencies handled those incidents very well, which we witnessed on TV screens until the early hours of the morning,” he added.
Expressing optimism about the party’s performance in the polls, Tarique Rahman stated, “Inshallah, I am hopeful. Firmly hopeful. As I have said before, if we win, the utmost priority will be to improve the law and order situation.”
