The Bangladesh Police is set to provide a comprehensive security protocol for all political parties in the run-up to the upcoming general election and referendum.

The protocol will offer clear guidelines to political leaders and prospective candidates on ensuring their security across multiple domains, including their residences, offices, movement, public rallies, and in cyberspace.

  • Enhanced Security for Key Leaders: Special arrangements are also being made to provide additional security to frontline leaders of the mass movement and other crucial political figures.

This initiative aims to bolster the safety of individuals involved in the political process as the nation prepares for the polls.


🔎 More Suspects Under Surveillance Following Attack on Sharif Osman Hady

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are continuing their intensive efforts to apprehend the main perpetrator and his associates involved in the attack on Sharif Osman Hady, the spokesperson for Inkilab Moncho and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency.

  • Ongoing Investigation: The police have already identified the attackers and seized the motorcycle used in the assault. Fingerprints of the suspects are currently being examined.
  • Border Alert: To prevent the prime suspect from crossing the border, his photograph and other relevant details were circulated to all immigration checkposts on Friday night. Patrols by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been intensified in the border areas.
  • Eluding Capture: Despite the suspects’ locations being identified multiple times within the country, frequent changes in their whereabouts have prevented their capture so far.
  • Travel History Revealed: Police have collected the travel history of the principal suspect, which shows he traveled to several countries over the past few years, posing as an IT businessman. The latest trip was recorded to Singapore on July 21.
  • Expanded Surveillance: Several other suspects potentially linked to the attack have also been brought under surveillance.

🇮🇳 Bangladesh Seeks Extradition of Convicted Criminals from India

In a separate development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian High Commissioner today to reiterate its request for the extradition of Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Kamal, who have been convicted by an international criminal court.

The High Commissioner was informed that the fugitive criminal, Sheikh Hasina, residing in India, is continuously giving provocative speeches and instructing her party supporters to carry out terrorist activities with the malicious intent of disrupting peace, stability, and security in Bangladesh and sabotaging the upcoming election.

The Government of India has been requested to immediately cease the fascist and terrorist activities of Sheikh Hasina and her associates who are fugitives in India.

The Indian High Commissioner was also asked for cooperation to prevent the attempted murderers of Sharif Osman Hady from fleeing Bangladesh to India. They were further requested that if the culprits manage to escape to India, Indian authorities should immediately apprehend and extradite them to Bangladesh.
