The number of expatriate citizens registering to vote in the 13th National Parliament Election using the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app has exceeded 92,000. According to data released on Sunday (November 30) morning from the Election Commission’s (EC) website, a total of 92,144 expatriates have registered from various countries.

- Total Registered: 92,144
- Male Registrants: 77,346
- Female Registrants: 14,799
This election marks the first time the Election Commission has introduced an IT-supported postal ballot system.
Who Can Vote via Postal Ballot?
The new system is available for:
- Expatriates
- Individuals in legal custody
- Personnel deployed for election duties
Registration for the app began on November 19 and will continue until December 23.

Registration is currently active in numerous countries, including:
- South Korea, Japan, South Africa, China, Egypt, Mozambique, Libya, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Brazil, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Liberia, Botswana, Kenya, Rwanda, Algeria, Angola, Tanzania, Somalia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, South Sudan, Chile, Sierra Leone, Ecuador, Taiwan, Argentina, Australia, Central African Republic, Gambia, Peru, Zimbabwe, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and others.
The Voting Process
The EC stated that postal ballots will be sent by mail to the registered addresses of the applicants. The voter will then cast their vote and send the ballot back to the Returning Officer in a return envelope.
The Election Commission is reportedly targeting 50 lakh (5 million) expatriate votes in this initiative.
