Mahfuj Alam’s Father Elected General Secretary of Ichapur Union BNP

Azizur Rahman Bachchu, father of interim government Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuj Alam, has been elected General Secretary of Ichapur Union BNP in Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur.

The election was held on Thursday (August 21) afternoon at Shrirampur High School polling center, where 453 members of the union BNP exercised their voting rights. Running with the “Rooster” symbol, Azizur Rahman won the General Secretary position with 266 votes. He had previously served as Vice President of the same union BNP committee.

In other results, Md. Oli Ullah was elected President with 255 votes under the “Umbrella” symbol, while Jahangir Alam Samrat secured 241 votes with the “Fish” symbol to become Organizing Secretary.

BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie attended the representative election as chief guest. In his speech, Annie said BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will soon return to the country, contest elections, and take responsibility as the next Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He added that it is under Tarique Rahman’s leadership that the opposition has found courage, morale, and unity, and expressed confidence that the upcoming national election will establish a people’s government led by BNP.

Among the special guests were District BNP Member Secretary Shahab Uddin Sabu, Joint Convener Advocate Hasibur Rahman, Bangladesh Football Federation Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, BLDP Chairman and 12-Party Alliance spokesperson Shahadat Hossain Selim, former Jubo Dal Vice President Imam Hossain, and former Senior Vice President of Dhaka Metropolitan BNP L. Rahman.
