“We Came to Change the Rules, Not Play the Old Game”: Nahid Islam in Bogura

National Citizens’ Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam delivered a fiery address today at Bogura’s iconic Satmatha Mukta Mancha, declaring that his party rejects Bangladesh’s old style of politics rooted in extortion and terror.

“We didn’t come to be new players in the old game, we came to change the rules,”

he said at a roadside rally following NCP’s “July Walkathon” through the city.

He emphasized that the July Uprising demands not just regime change but a complete overhaul of the political system. “The new Bangladesh we envision needs a new system. Politics must be reclaimed by the credible, capable youth of this country,” Nahid stated, drawing loud cheers from a crowd of students, workers, and local citizens.

“July Declaration Will Be in the Constitution”

Dismissing speculations about delays in the formalization of the July Declaration, Nahid said, “There’s no room for hesitation, the July Declaration will definitely be included in the Constitution. July is not just emotion, it’s the roadmap to the future of Bangladesh.”

A Sharp Rebuke of Awami League and Foreign Dependence

Alluding to the Awami League without naming it directly, Nahid said, “The Mujibists are on the run—they’ve fled to India because they were never a Bangladeshi party; they were an Indian proxy. From now on, no foreign power will dictate our politics or elections. Only the people of Bangladesh will decide their future.”

He announced that on August 3, a public pledge for a “New Bangladesh” will be taken at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka, and the final version of the July Declaration will be proclaimed.

“Bogura Faced 16 Years of Discrimination”

Raising regional grievances, Nahid slammed the 16 years of Awami League rule for marginalizing Bogura. “Just hearing the name ‘Bogura’ would disqualify job applicants. No opportunities, only harassment through false cases. But this is the land where the Pundra civilization began, where Bogura was once the capital of Bengal!”

“NCP doesn’t believe in discrimination. We’ll fight for Bogura’s rightful share. We want every citizen to get what they deserve, education, services, and dignity,” he vowed.

Warning to Local Administration: Stay Neutral

Nahid also called out the local administration, accusing it of partisan behavior. “There’s no place in this district for politicized police or biased bureaucrats. The administration, police, and judiciary must remain neutral. If anyone tries to run a party-loyal administration like in the past, they will face consequences, just like the DCs accused in the 2018 election theft scandal.”

Morning Session with Martyrs’ Families

Earlier that day, at 11 AM, NCP held a dialogue with families of martyrs at Bogura’s Parjatan Motel. There, Nahid reiterated his party’s core sequence: “Justice first, then reform, only then, elections.”
