BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said that all parties have agreed on two issues of Article 70 of the Constitution in the second round of meetings with the National Consensus Commission. He said, “In continuation of the past few days, we have made a decision according to Article 70. Everyone has agreed on two issues. Those two issues are the vote of confidence and the money bill. Except for these two issues, members of parliament will be able to vote freely.”He made these remarks during the lunch break of the adjourned session of the second phase of the National Consensus Commission dialogue at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday (June 17).Salahuddin Ahmed said, “A few other parties have added the Constitution Amendment Bill to it. We have another position, we stated in the written proposal that if there are issues of national security (issues like war situations), then the members of parliament will not be independent.”He said, it has been decided that the vote of confidence and the finance bill will be mentioned in the national charter. Everyone will sign here. The remaining two issues will be linked. If we are given the responsibility (if we come to power), we will be able to link the remaining two issues there.Stating that a decision has also been made regarding the parliamentary standing committee, the BNP standing committee member said, “The position of chairman in the standing committees related to issues of public importance, including the Public Accounts Committee, Privilege Committee, Estimation Committee, Public Undertaking Committee, and others, will be given to the opposition party on the basis of seats.”He further said that everyone agrees on keeping 100 seats reserved for women. Discussions are underway on the election system. That is still ongoing.
