U.S. President Donald J. Trump has expressed optimism about the prospect of peace between Iran and Israel, stating that the two longtime adversaries “should make a deal, and will make a deal.” In a post published Sunday on his platform, Truth Social, President Trump said that “many calls and meetings” are currently taking place and peace is “coming soon.”
“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal… Likewise, we will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings now taking place,” the President wrote.
Framing himself as a seasoned dealmaker, Trump invoked his previous record of resolving global conflicts through diplomacy and trade-based leverage. He compared the current tensions to past conflicts between India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and Egypt and Ethiopia, all of which he claims were de-escalated during his previous administration.
“Serbia and Kosovo were ready to break out into war. I stopped it. Egypt and Ethiopia were fighting over the Nile—there is peace now, because of my intervention,” he said.
Trump also criticized decisions made during the Biden administration, accusing it of undermining long-term stability. However, he assured that he will “fix it, again,” referring to what he believes were setbacks to his earlier diplomatic gains.
The post ended with a characteristic campaign slogan:
“MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”
While no official negotiations between Iran and Israel have been announced by the White House or the State Department, President Trump’s comments suggest that the U.S. may be pursuing quiet diplomacy amid rising regional tensions. His remarks come at a time when fears of open conflict between Iran and Israel have intensified following a series of cross-border attacks and proxy escalations.
International analysts remain divided on the viability of such a deal, given the deep-rooted animosity between Tehran and Tel Aviv. However, Trump’s confidence reflects a renewed U.S. effort to reassert diplomatic leadership in the Middle East under his current term.
