Sudden Chatra League Rally at TSC: Two Detained Along With Vehicle

Members of the banned Chhatra League held a sudden rally at Dhaka University’s TSC area near the Raju Memorial Sculpture, prompting police action in which two individuals along with a microbus were detained.

The incident occurred around 6:00 am on Saturday, according to police and eyewitness accounts.

The detained individuals are identified as Farhan Tanvir Nasif (2020–21 session, AF Rahman Hall) and Rubel, the driver of the microbus.

Eyewitnesses said a group of 10 to 12 people suddenly gathered at the base of the Raju Sculpture, displayed banners, and staged a brief rally before quickly leaving the scene in a black HiAce microbus. Another HiAce vehicle and a Dhaka University student present at the spot were also detained by police.

Confirming the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ramna Division) Masud Alam said,

“Two individuals were detained during a sudden Chhatra League rally at the Raju Sculpture area. They are being interrogated at the police station.”

Police said further investigation is underway.
