Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Saturday directed all police stations across the country, including those in Dhaka, to be made free from brokers and middlemen.
He gave the instruction while visiting Ramna Model Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police at noon. During the visit, the minister inspected different rooms, the lock-up, and the overall environment of the station.
He also spoke with the Officer-in-Charge (OC), duty officers, and police personnel on duty. In addition, he inquired about their working conditions and various problems they face while performing their responsibilities.
Addressing the police members, the minister instructed them to serve the public with honesty, fairness, and sincerity. He said police stations must remain broker-free and well-disciplined to ensure quality public service.
The Home Minister further warned that strict action would be taken against any police personnel if allegations of negligence or corruption are proven.
