Parliament to Hold Two Daily Sessions to Convert 133 Ordinances into Law

Following the constitutional timeline, the Jatiya Sangsad has decided to hold two sessions daily to convert 133 ordinances into law. This process will begin from Tuesday, April 7. The procedure to convert ordinances issued during the caretaker government into law has already started. Out of the total 133 ordinances, nine bills have been passed so far. On Monday, April 6, seven bills were passed, and three more bills were introduced. However, due to opposition objections, the three newly introduced bills will be discussed and passed in a subsequent session. According to constitutional requirements, decisions on all ordinances must be made by April 12.

To accelerate parliamentary work due to time constraints, the decision to hold two daily sessions was made. According to Chief Whip Nurul Islam, the sessions will help complete the passage of the large number of bills. The first session will begin at 10:30 am, and the second session will start at 3:30 pm. If necessary, sessions may also be held on Friday.

Of the 133 ordinances, 98 have been scheduled for introduction in Parliament as bills. On Monday, 10 bills were introduced, of which seven were passed and the remaining three set aside for further discussion.
