Frustrated motorcyclists in Islampur, Jamalpur, blocked the Dewanganj–Jamalpur regional highway on Monday morning after failing to get fuel. The roadblock, which involved placing tree branches on the road, lasted from 7:30 am to 9:30 am in front of Jharna Filling Station.
The bikers were seen raising slogans demanding fuel, causing severe traffic congestion on both sides of the road. The situation was eventually resolved after assurances from the authorities and military support, and the bikers lifted the blockade.
Background of the Incident
Local residents said that fuel supply at Jharna Filling Station in Mosharafganj was announced on social media for 8:00 am Monday, prompting hundreds of bikers to line up overnight on Sunday.
However, on Monday morning, the filling station announced fuel would not be available, angering the waiting bikers.
Eyewitness Accounts
Mazum Mahmud, a teacher, said:
“I waited in line all night from 10 pm Sunday, expecting fuel on Monday morning. But the station announced no fuel would be provided. This is unfair, and I demand accountability.”
Biker Milon Mia added:
“The station management announced fuel delivery for 8 am. We waited overnight, but in the morning, they said no fuel would be given. Who will take responsibility for this?”
Station Response
