On Saturday, 21 February 2026, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman unveiled a special commemorative stamp marking International Mother Language Day and Shaheed Day. The ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

As the newly appointed Prime Minister, this marked his first formal official activity at the Tejgaon office, signaling the full resumption of government administrative work at the site after a long period.

The Prime Minister arrived at the office at 10:10 AM, where he received a warm welcome from Chief Secretary A B M Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon. Before beginning administrative work, the Prime Minister planted a golden flower sapling in the office courtyard, offered thanks to Allah, and participated in a special prayer for the peace, prosperity, and welfare of all citizens.

The event was attended by senior military and civilian officials, including Defense Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) A K M Shamsul Islam. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Bangladesh.

Following the stamp unveiling, the Prime Minister held a brief discussion with officials, providing guidance on key administrative matters. Observers noted that the initiative was a positive tribute to the martyrs of the language movement and marked a revival of energy at the Tejgaon office.
