Chandpur-4 Independent MP Hannan Vows to Withhold Oath Until BNP Reinstates Him

Newly elected independent Member of Parliament from Chandpur-4, M. A. Hannan, has announced that he will not take the oath as an MP until he is formally accepted back into the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Speaking at a press conference held at Faridganj Press Club on Saturday afternoon, Hannan said he would refrain from taking the oath as a Member of Parliament unless his “beloved political party” officially reinstates him. He also reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to the party’s ideology.

In the 13th National Parliament election, Hannan contested as an independent candidate after failing to secure the party nomination. As a result, he was expelled from his position in his party.

During the press conference, he stated that since his student life, he has believed in the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and has remained involved in BNP politics, pledging to continue doing so in the future.

He called on the administration to take a firm stance against post-election violence and misinformation, urging party leaders and activists to maintain peace and discipline. The newly elected MP also emphasized a “zero tolerance” policy against any form of lawbreaking.

Local leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations were present at the press conference.
