Politics is a Game of Strategy, Not Killing: Zonayed Saki

Jonayed Saki

Zonayed Abdur Rahman Saki, the Chief Coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolan and the BNP-led alliance nominee for the Brahmanbaria-6 (Bancharampur) constituency, has stated that politics is essentially a game of strategy and not an arena for violence or killing.

“Politics is a strategic game; killing is not politics. We have never campaigned for any interest outside the welfare of the people. Our struggles and movements have always been for the legitimate rights of the citizens,” he remarked while addressing a campaign rally as the chief guest at Rupsadi Brindaban High School grounds on Thursday (January 29).

A ‘Double Ballot’ Election

Highlighting the significance of the upcoming national election, Zonayed Saki noted that this year’s voting process would be unique.

“The upcoming election is crucial. This time, there will be two ballots: one for a referendum (Gonovote) and the other for the general election. We have signed the ‘July Charter’ to implement this referendum. A constitution cannot be changed without the people’s mandate. Therefore, I urge everyone to vote ‘Yes’ in the referendum and cast your votes for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ (Dhaner Shis) across all 300 seats to form a representative parliament,” Saki said.

Emphasis on National Unity

The Ganosamhati Andolan leader stressed the urgent need for national unity to safeguard the country’s sovereignty. Referring to recent political instability, he mentioned:

“We want to unite the entire country through this election. Unity is vital right now. You have seen the consequences of internal division—the President was whisked away under the cover of night. Nations that face threats to their independence often suffer because their own people are fighting among themselves. We must remain united to prevent such a fate.”

Legacy of the July Movement

Recalling the sacrifices made during the July uprising, Zonayed Saki said the movement has provided a rare opportunity to rebuild the nation. He expressed his vision for a new future for children, free from the shadows of fascism.

“Thirty-nine parties, including the BNP and Ganosamhati Andolan, fought simultaneously against fascism. We believe that through this alliance, a government led by the BNP will be formed after the national election,” he added.

Commitment to Bancharampur

Addressing the local residents directly, Zonayed Saki explained his decision to contest from this specific seat. He promised that if the alliance comes to power and he has the opportunity to influence government policy, he would prioritize the development of Bancharampur.

The rally was attended by central leaders of Ganosamhati Andolan, as well as local leaders and activists from the BNP and its various wing organizations.
