The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has extended the deadline for the sale of its party nomination forms for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, following an encouraging initial response. The party has sold 1,011 nomination forms in the first eight days and aims to reach a target of 3,000 applications.
The initial distribution period was set to conclude, but the deadline has now been extended by an additional seven days, allowing interested candidates to purchase forms until November 20.
Target of 3,000 Nomination Forms
The information was disclosed by Naseeruddin Patwary, the NCP Chief Coordinator and Head of the Central Election Management Committee, during a press conference held at the party’s temporary central office in Bangla Motor, Dhaka, on Friday evening.
Patwary expressed confidence in meeting the party’s ambitious goal, stating, “We have set a target of selling 3,000 nomination forms, and we will, Insha’Allah, reach this target in the coming days.”
Wide-Ranging Response Spurs Extension
Patwary highlighted the diverse background of the applicants, which motivated the decision to extend the sales period.
“We released the party nomination forms to send people’s representatives to the parliament. So far, 1,011 forms have been sold. We have received an excellent response from the people, with applications pouring in from doctors, lawyers, professionals, businessmen, Alem-Olama (religious scholars), and teachers,” Patwary said. “Seeing the enthusiasm and interest of the public, we have extended this deadline, which will now run until November 20.”
Nomination forms can be collected from the Rupayan Trade Center (second floor) in Bangla Motor or online.
Call to Journalists
In a unique move, Naseeruddin Patwary also called upon journalists interested in representing the people in parliament to purchase the NCP’s nomination forms. He urged them, “Because your wages are not yet fixed in Bangladesh, you should contest and raise your voice in parliament regarding your wages and the exploitation/oppression by owners.”
The Chief Coordinator reiterated the party’s commitment to selecting capable and moral leaders. “Insha’Allah, we want to inform the entire nation that we wish to send skilled and qualified representatives to parliament. We do not want to send any godfathers, extortionists, or terrorists. We want to send some good people.”
The process for distributing the NCP nomination forms was inaugurated by Naseeruddin Patwary on the evening of November 6 at the party office. The cost of each nomination form is BDT 10,000, with a reduced price of BDT 2,000 set for “July Warriors” and low-income individuals.
