BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman Looking for Rental House in Dhaka, Says Party Leader

BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Abdus Salam has said that the party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, is looking for a rented house in Dhaka as he prepares to return to the country.

Speaking at the biennial conference of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP in Pathanpara, Rajshahi city, on Sunday (August 10), Salam stated, “We can proudly say our leader Tarique Rahman does not own a house in Dhaka, has no car, and has no bank balance. When he returns to the country, he will need a place to stay, so he is looking for a rental house.”

Tarique Rahman joined the conference virtually as the chief guest.

Discussing the party’s stance after the fall of the Awami League government, Salam said that a single directive from Tarique Rahman was enough to calm the situation nationwide. “Otherwise, the fire burning in our hearts would have set ablaze the houses of Awami League members across Bangladesh,” he remarked.

Praising the leadership of both Ziaur Rahman and Tarique Rahman, Salam claimed that if Tarique came to power, he would bring sweeping changes to the country within a month. “There will be no theft, robbery, extortion, or misappropriation,” he added.

At one point in the conference, Salam had the top leaders of the Rajshahi division raise their hands to pledge unity, urging them to set aside their divisions and work together.
