Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of being not only an autocrat but also a leader of the drug trade and a destroyer of society. He urged that her oppressive politics must not be allowed to harm the people of Bangladesh any further.
He made these remarks on Saturday (August 9) during a discussion meeting held on the occasion of the BNP Ward Representative Election in Charmohana Union, Raipur Upazila, Lakshmipur district, where he was the chief guest.
Annie said, “Hasina is now conspiring from abroad. With the support of neighboring countries, she is destroying the youth, students, and young generations by promoting drugs to annihilate Bangladesh. Because the youth and students are a mountain-like power, the powerhouse of the country. If this powerhouse is destroyed, neighboring countries believe Bangladesh will be destroyed.”
He further added, “Drugs have ruined us. They have destroyed society, humanity, and families.”
The BNP leader also emphasized the need to form an IT group and an online activist group in the electoral area to prevent misinformation against the BNP through IT (Information Technology) or AI (Artificial Intelligence).
The meeting was attended by BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s advisor Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Raipur Upazila BNP Convener Z M Nazmul Islam Mithu, Member Secretary Shafiqul Rahman Bhuiyan, and District BNP Member Secretary Sahabuddin Sabu, among others.
