The Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mahmudul Mohsin on Thursday sentenced Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Rahul or Daud, the main accused in the Osman Bin Hadi murder case, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in an arms-related case.
The verdict came after the conclusion of arguments in the case last Sunday, with the court scheduling Thursday for judgment. Faisal Karim had been absconding, and an arrest warrant was issued against him. He was previously arrested on November 7, 2024, during an operation at a flat in Baitul Aman Housing Society, Adabar, conducted by RAB-2. Authorities recovered a foreign pistol and four bullets from his possession.
According to the case, Faisal Karim is a notorious local armed criminal, involved in extortion, drug trafficking, murder, and land grabbing. He had been maintaining illegal firearms to commit crimes.
After investigation, Sub-Inspector Zahid Hasan of Adabar Police Station filed the charges on March 28, 2025. During the trial, 13 out of 14 witnesses were examined. Faisal Karim had been on bail until November 17, 2024, but went into hiding following the Osman Hadi murder incident. He was recently arrested in India.
This verdict marks a significant step in Bangladesh’s ongoing efforts to bring high-profile criminal elements to justice.
